The Digitization Process

1. Assessment

• Each item is evaluated for condition, wear, and identifying information
• A detailed estimate is provided based on format, condition, and scope

2. Preparation

• Vinyl Records – Cleaned using professional-grade methods
• Acetates – Safely cleaned with archival-safe, non-damaging chemicals
• Open Reel Tape – Inspected for mold, faulty splices, and repaired as needed
• Tape Baking – Applied if required to stabilize degrading tapes
• Cassette Tapes – Checked for case issues, dropouts, or other playback problems

3. Digitization

• Audio is transferred using high-fidelity, professional-grade equipment
• Focused on clean, accurate, and archival-quality digital conversion
• Transfer levels and speed are monitored closely to ensure consistency

4. Post-Processing

• Volume is normalized across all tracks
• Light noise reduction or pop/click removal available upon request
• Tracks are trimmed and split appropriately (e.g., LP Side A/B)
• Metadata tagging (artist, album, track title, year, notes) using industry standards (BWF, ID3, iXML)

Restoration is always done conservatively to preserve the authenticity of the original recording. No excessive processing unless specifically requested.

5. Delivery Format

You’ll receive your digitized audio in the format that best fits your needs.

File Types Available:

• WAV – Uncompressed, highest quality
• FLAC – Lossless compression
• MP3 – Compressed for easy playback and sharing

Delivery Options:

• USB flash drive or external hard drive (client-provided or available upon request)
• Secure cloud download link
• CD or DVD (audio or data format), if preferred

A full inventory or track list is included with every project.
